Well, actually, it wasn’t supposed to be…today was a public holiday (Malawian Independence Day observance). But when Gomez and his dedicated principal, vice-principal and teaching staff heard we planned to visit today, they gave the students last Friday off instead so we would have the chance to meet them and see the school in session. Not only that, they prepared an incredible assembly for us during which we were treated to inspiring poetry readings about the students’ growing relationships with God and with Jesus Christ, a song by their choir celebrating their faith, and addresses by Gomez and their principal. What awesome, sacred space they created for us! Nadia Vanderkuip, UrbanPromise International Executive Director, presented their principal with some school supplies that were donated and brought over from the US. They currently have two classes, Form 1 and Form 2, which roughly equate to our early high school levels.
