You don’t need to spend long in Tinashe Saka’s presence to understand why she is VERY affectionately known as the “Mother Teresa of RiseMalawi”. As our van pulled up to her new home in the middle of the RiseMalawi campus, she came out with greetings, warm hugs and an even warmer invitation into her home, which is decorated with (among other things) scripture verses written by some of the children. She also took the time to point out the pictures of the family members who helped shape her passion for Jesus, for sharing the gospel and for ministering to children. She shared their stories, and how those stories were integral in her own journey. As we toured the after school program area, she made sure to show us the drawings on the wall representing the core values inherent in the culture they maintain, and the significance of each drawing and scripture verse or quote it contained. Finally, she welcomed us back into her home to eat a lunch she had prepared for us while we were touring the campus. All of this with a beauty, grace and servant leader’s heart that are simply remarkable.
